"Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow" (2017-2018)
Neighbors who have scattered across the country are invited to a 50th reunion. The neighborhood is not the only thing that had changed. When they were young, people of color and whites did not mix, families talked at dinner (not to their cell phones), and doctors made house calls.
THE COMPANY
SYBIL COX
I am 62 years old. I was born in New Orleans. I am a retired security guard. I have been coming to Kinship Center for 6 months. This is my first experience with drama.
DOLORES HUNTER
My name is Dolores, and I’m 88 years young! I belong to the St. Francis DeSales Church. I love to sing, so I belong to one of the largest black gospel choirs in the United States, Golden Voices. I love to sew and do volunteer work, especially at Kinship Center.
ROMONA LUKE
I am going to be 90 years old soon. I have 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great, grandchildren. I retired last year. I like music and dancing. I am so glad I came to the Shepherd’s Center. I love the Drama Club. I also made some great friends that I’ll have forever.
FRANCIS MATHERNE
A graduate of Tulane University, I majored in English Literature. I was organist at St. Henry’s Church for 26 years. This is my third year in the drama program. I am 71 years old.
LODONIA MICHEL
I am 74 years old. I love to read and watch TV. I worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for 41 years at Charity Hospital. Since retiring, I enjoy volunteering at Kinship Center and going to classes there, especially Drama, Spanish, and Tai Chi, Poetry. I have been with the Golden Heart Players since Katrina
CORA PAYNES
I am 84 years old. Married for 66 years. I have 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. I enjoy cooking, reading, computers, traveling, and helping others. At the Shepherd’s Center, I take classes in computer, bible study, and exercising as well as drama.
MARY PARKS
I am 68 years young. I enjoy traveling and music. I enjoy also the Kinship Center classes, especially gym and computer classes.
MARY WEST
I am 74 years old. I had 3 children, two sons and one daughter. I am the grandparent of 1 boy and 1 girl. I enjoy doing volunteer work, dancing, computer games and singing in my church choir. Since retiring, I joined the Kinship family and have met many new friends. This is my first year with GHP and I am enjoying it very much.
ANNIE B. WILLIAMS
I’ll be 90 years young soon. I have 2 girls and 2 boys. I was born in Waterproof, Louisiana. I have been in New Orleans for over 60 years. I love the Lord and people. I like reading, sewing, knitting, and quilting. I love drama and to travel.

At 74 years of age with some 50 years of theatre experience in professional and educational settings, my work with the Golden Heart Players has been some of my most rewarding. The members of the company truly have golden hearts.
